Building and painting tips

Assembling the rails and the ties takes longer, so work patiently and keep the geometry of the track straight, otherwise the vehicles will not sit parallel. Paint the ties from a dark brown base and pick the growth rings and cracks out with a dry brush. Treat the rails with rusty shades and polish the railhead to a metallic shine, as if wheels had been running over it. Complete the ballast bed with pigments and fine sand; oil stains and dusting will finish off the impression of use.
