Photo-etched grilles for the Panther Ausf. A and D in 1:35 scale from Aber: metal grilles for the engine deck. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set in 1:35 scale with engine deck grilles for a model of the German Panther tank in the Ausf. A and D versions. It is not a kit but a replacement for the plastic parts. A grille is exactly the case where the difference between plastic and photo-etch shows most: the plastic one is always blind, whereas the etched one is genuinely open and you can see into the space beneath it.
The Panther had an extensive engine compartment at the rear of the hull with radiators that drew in and blew out air through openings covered by grilles. These are very conspicuous on the vehicle, because they make up a substantial part of the upper surface of the rear. The grilles were also covered over in service, clogged with leaves and mud and are often damaged in photographs, so they are a rewarding subject for weathering as well.
Cut the photo-etched sheet on a hard surface with sharp photo-etch scissors or a scalpel, and never break a part out. Make the bends in a bending tool or at least between two blades, so that the edge is crisp and in the right place. Degrease the parts with alcohol, glue them with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate, and apply a primer to the metal, otherwise paint will not hold. Do not forget to darken the space under an open grille, or light plastic will show through.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
