Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer 1:35 – the first part of a photo-etched set from Royal Model for refining the tank destroyer built on Czech soil. The set is intended for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The small Jagdpanzer 38(t) tank destroyer has such a simple shape that any over-thick sheet on it shows at first glance. This package from Royal Model therefore aims at the most visible surfaces: the fenders, the covers and the small external fittings that an injection mold can manage only in simplified form. It assumes you already have the plastic model. The set assumes the Dragon kit.
The design was created on a chassis derived from the light tank of the Praga company and from 1944 it was built at Ceskomoravska Kolben-Danek in Prague and at Skoda in Plzen. The low, steeply sloped front plate carried a 7.5 cm PaK 39 gun mounted with limited traverse to the right of the center line, and a remotely operated machine gun sat on the roof. The machine was cheap, easy to camouflage and could be unpleasantly effective from cover; inside, though, it was cramped and the driver sat separated from the rest of the crew.
The fenders look best when you ripple them slightly before gluing and bend one corner as if the terrain had scraped it. Join the metal with thin cyanoacrylate glue applied by scraping it on with a piece of wire. Once it is finished, it pays to bring out the rivets and the bolts with a dark shade run into the recesses, so that the surface does not stay flat.
The metal parts serve as an accessory to a model that you obtain separately.
