The follow-up photo-etched set for the Hetzer 1:35 from Royal Model adds a second helping of metal details for this tank destroyer. Intended for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two-part sets have a simple logic with this brand: the opening package deals with the conspicuous surfaces, the second one finishes off the rest. Here, then, further metal elements are added to the small 38(t) tank destroyer, and a plastic kit under construction is assumed. Owning both parts is not a condition; each can be used on its own as well. The target kit is Dragon.
What is interesting is that the story of the vehicle did not end with the war. Production in post-war Czechoslovakia continued under the designation ST-I, and a similar type, the G-13, served in Switzerland well into the 1950s. That is also why a fair number of examples have survived and the machine can be seen today in museums and at gatherings of historic vehicles. For a modeler that means rich photographic documentation and an unusually wide choice of finishes, from late wartime camouflage to a post-war single-color scheme.
The metal is springy, so a joint only holds once the glue has cured completely; do not hurry and hold the parts with tweezers. Always make the bends along the etched line, never against it. A matte varnish at the end unifies the sheen of the metal with the surrounding plastic, so that the accessories do not stand out from the model.
The contents are a set of metal parts; the plastic model, putty and finishing materials have to be obtained separately.
