An Aber turned metal gun barrel in 1:35 for the Israeli 105 mm M-68 tank gun of the Tiran 5, variant B. A detail accessory to replace the plastic barrel, not a vehicle kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set from the Polish manufacturer Aber with an accurate turned metal barrel of the Israeli 105 mm M-68 tank gun for a model of the Tiran 5 tank in 1:35 scale, in the variant B version. This is not a vehicle kit but an accessory that replaces the plastic barrel from the base model. Turned metal has no mold seam, holds an accurate circular section and taper, and offers a faithfully made muzzle. The variant B designation distinguishes this rendering of the barrel from variant A, which is offered alongside it.
The Tiran 5 came from captured Soviet T-55 tanks, which the Israeli army brought into its own service after the wars of 1967 and 1973. Rearming them with the 105 mm M-68 gun standardized the ammunition with the rest of Israeli armor and raised the combat value of the vehicle considerably. The conversion also included changes to the turret and hull equipment, different stowage spaces and machine gun armament following Israeli practice. Individual vehicles differed from one another in detail, which is why the manufacturer offers the barrel in two versions.
Glue the metal barrel with cyanoacrylate glue; two-part epoxy helps with larger mating faces. Degrease the parts beforehand with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and lightly roughen the mating faces. Paint the metal only after an adhesion primer has been applied. On Israeli vehicles in a desert shade the barrel comes out nicely with drybrushing and dust pigments, and the muzzle only needs restrained sooting.
This is a detail accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
