A photo-etched set for a model of the heavy tank King Tiger in 1:35 scale, cut for the Tamiya kit. The extent of the parts is described in the maker's instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The King Tiger, that is, the German heavy tank Tiger II also designated Königstiger, is among the most built subjects of 1:35 scale. It has heavily sloped armor, a long barrel on a cannon of 88 mm caliber and massive running gear that takes up a large area on a model. It is precisely for that reason that accessories pay off with it: the large smooth surfaces and long edges give away every part that is too thick against reality.
Photo-etched parts are of thin metal sheet. They replace the areas that an injection mold cannot make thin enough: covers, grilles, brackets, loops and other small items on the surface. The result is visible mainly on the outline of the vehicle and on the edges, where a plastic part has to stay thickened. Which particular parts this set replaces and in what order they are assembled is given in the maker's instructions; according to the name it is cut for the Tamiya kit in 1:35 scale.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the fret tabs down. Make the bends at once along the whole length, best in a bending tool or between two blades. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied on the tip of a wire, and on larger surfaces with two-part epoxy; cement for polystyrene does not hold on metal. Before painting, degrease the metal and cover it with a primer suitable for metal, or the paint will flake off at the first handling. Lay the small parts out on double-sided tape beforehand, so that you do not have to look for them on the floor.
For modelers who build the King Tiger in 1:35 scale and want to refine the parts that plastic is not up to. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
