An injection-molded plastic kit of the German ambulance half-track carrier Sd.Kfz.251/8 Krankenpanzerwagen Ausf.A in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. It is the medical version of the widespread armored personnel carrier, adapted for evacuating the wounded from the battlefield. The model faithfully captures the characteristic equipment of the ambulance version as well as the subdivided interior of the hull.
The Sd.Kfz.251 was the main German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, designed by Hanomag. The 251/8 Krankenpanzerwagen version served to evacuate the wounded — it carried several lying cases on hanging stretchers as well as seated wounded, and its equipment included a drinking water tank and an additional step for boarding at the rear. To distinguish it from combat vehicles it carried prominent red cross markings and, on top of the hull, semicircular ribs for a tarpaulin to keep the rain off.
On a half-track, concentrate on the interior of the hull and the stretchers, which are clearly visible when the vehicle is open, and finish them before closing it up. Paint the running gear and the tracks separately. Use a liquid modeling cement on the plastic. Apply a primer before painting — a sand-colored African scheme and a dark gray Eastern one are both on offer — and lay the paint down with an airbrush. Bring the whole to life with washes into the recesses and with dust and mud effects, and fix the red cross markings onto a smooth varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
