This extensive accessory from the brand Royal Model relates to the Israeli variant of the American M109 self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale, which the manufacturer lists under the designation M 109 AL. It serves to convert and add to a model built from an ordinary plastic kit of a howitzer of this type.
The M109 was created in America in the 1960s as a tracked self-propelled howitzer with a light aluminum hull and a fully rotating turret at the rear. The design proved so viable that it saw dozens of upgrades and a number of armies still use it today. Israel fielded these howitzers in large numbers and gradually adapted them to its own needs: equipment was added on the turret, the arrangement of the hatches changed and bins appeared for the crew's gear, all clearly different from the original American form. It is exactly these differences that make the Israeli M109 a modeling subject of its own.
A conversion means cutting into a finished shape, so plan in advance what you will cut away from the original kit and what you will keep. Dry assembly without glue will reveal where the fit needs tuning. A desert finish does a great deal: a light base, fine shading of the individual surfaces and above all dry dust on the running gear and in the recesses.
The conversion is unpainted; paints and fixing compounds are not supplied with it.
