An injection-molded plastic kit of the American light tank M3A1 Stuart in 1:35 scale from Academy. The model captures the M3A1 version with a reworked turret without the commander's observation cupola and with a 37 mm anti-tank gun as its main armament. The box holds hull, turret and running gear parts and a decal sheet for several machines.
The M3 Stuart was one of the most widespread Allied light tanks of the Second World War. The M3A1 version was given a welded turret with powered traverse and gun stabilization and lost the earlier commander's cupola, which lowered its silhouette. Fast and reliable, the Stuart served the US Army and its allies under the Lend-Lease program in North Africa, the Pacific and on other fronts; it was weak against heavier tanks, but excellent for reconnaissance and escort work.
First assemble and paint the running gear — the Stuart has prominent rubber-tired wheels and tracks. Bond the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, sand the joints and apply a primer. Shade the typical olive drab with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and seal them with a matte coat. Use washes and pigments on the tracks and the lower hull for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
