A set of small clamps for the pioneer tools of models of German armored vehicles in 1:35 scale. It is not a vehicle kit but a detail accessory. According to the name it holds 24 pieces and it is meant for the late types of tanks in the make designated as version 2.
German tanks carried a complete set of pioneer tools on the hull: a shovel, an axe, a crowbar, a tow cable, a fire extinguisher and other equipment needed for recovery and for maintenance in the field. Every item was held in its place by a pressed clamp with a wing nut or a spring catch. The shape of these clamps changed over the course of the war as production was simplified, and the late make differs recognizably from the early one. On a model the clamps tend to be molded in one piece with the tools and with the hull, so they come across as a shapeless lumpy patch.
The job is a rewarding one, but it calls for patience: cut the original molded clamps off the hull with a sharp modeling scalpel, level the surface and set the new ones according to photographs of the day. Mark the layout out first with a soft pencil. On parts of this size, cyanoacrylate glue applied with the tip of a wire rather than straight from the bottle proves itself. It is practical to paint only after fitting, together with the hull, and to finish the tools themselves separately. Lighter wooden handles against the dark metal of a clamp are exactly the contrast for which you take on such a detail at all.
