Injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The package contains plastic sprues with the parts, photo-etched sheet, copper wire for the tow cable and plastic tracks. The instructions and a decal sheet are included. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is meant for display, not for play.
The KV-9, carried internally as Object 229, was a Soviet experimental heavy tank of early 1942. It was based on the chassis and hull of the production KV-1 and differed above all in a turret with a short 122 mm howitzer, which was to provide strong fire support at short range. The vehicle had a crew of four and a heavily armored front. It stayed at the trials stage and the type never entered series production, which makes it an interesting addition to a collection of KV series tanks.
Finish the running gear and the tracks first; they are easier to fit before the final assembly of the fenders. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue, and straighten the copper wire before bending it and secure the ends. Spray the model with a primer, then with the overall color, and lay down a gloss clear coat compatible with the paint you used before the decals. Round the look off with a wash in the recesses, highlighted edges and finally pigments for mud and dust effects around the running gear; a matte clear coat evens everything out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
