The Schwimmwagen type 166 amphibious car can be completed with the 1:35 Schwimmwagen type 166 set with fine metal elements that a plastic mold cannot render.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set in 1:35 scale is intended for finishing a model of the German amphibious vehicle. It aims at thin sheet-metal elements and small hardware, that is at the places where injection-molded plastic runs up against its limits. The vehicle itself is sold separately.
The type 166 was derived from the design of the light army car and got a tub body that was watertight and at the same time stiff enough. At the rear a propeller driven from the engine folded down; in the water it was steered with the front wheels, which was slow but enough to cross a river. On land all-wheel drive and reduction gears on the front axle helped. Over ten thousand were built, making it the most widespread series-built amphibious car in history. It served with reconnaissance units, with signalmen and with engineers on every front and, thanks to its small dimensions, came into its own in marshy terrain.
You will get the most pronounced effect on the folding propeller and its mounting, where the fineness of metal really shows. Secure bent elements with a drop of glue only after a dry test. When painting, do not forget that the vehicles carried traces of water and mud from driving up a bank, so the underside of the body will take more pronounced dirt.
The set is sold without paints, without glues and without the model to carry them.
