A photo-etched accessory set in 1:35 scale for a model of the Sd. Kfz. 250/5 in the Neu form, built around the kit from Dragon. Thin parts replace the places that cannot be done in plastic: grilles, grab handles, hinges, equipment brackets and other small features on which the credibility of a finished model rests.
The number after the slash distinguishes the equipment variant of the vehicle, and the Neu designation belongs to the later, simplified form of the hull. The set is built around exactly that combination, so choose it according to the kit you actually have; it may not fit another version of the vehicle. The range of parts and the assembly sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, because snapping them out will damage them. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bender, always in a single movement. Sand the remains of the cut flat. Make the joints with super glue applied in minute drops with a pin; a cement for polystyrene has no effect here. Assemble smaller subassemblies to one side and seat them on the model only when they are finished.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply a thin base coat, because a heavy layer would drown the fine shapes. Paint in thin coats and leave the dirtying until last, because it will tie the new features optically to the rest of the vehicle. The work pays off most on the outline of the vehicle and around the open hull, that is, where the viewer looks first.
For builders who have already worked with thin parts and have a sharp tool, tweezers and super glue.
