A photo-etched accessory set in 1:35 scale for a model of the half-track armored personnel carrier Sd. Kfz. 250 in the Neu form, built around the kit from Dragon. The Neu designation distinguishes the later, simplified hull from the earlier form, so the set suits kits of exactly that later version.
The accessories for this vehicle are issued split into parts and this is the first of them; the second exists separately. What it contains exactly and in what order the parts are fitted is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so go through them before you start removing plastic parts from the kit.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface; never snap them out. Make the bends over a straight edge, ideally in a bender, and do each one in a single movement, because repeated bending tires the material. Sand the remains of the cut flat. Make the joints with super glue in minute drops applied with a pin, because an ordinary modeling cement for polystyrene has no effect here.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting and apply a thin base coat, because a heavy layer would fill the fine shapes. It pays to paint in subassemblies and only then to seat them on the model, because some places are out of reach once they are glued. The features on the outline of the vehicle repay the most work, that is, where the viewer sees them against the light.
For builders who have already worked with thin parts and have a sharp tool, tweezers and super glue. The work is fine and it calls for a steady hand and time.
