An injection-molded plastic kit of the German half-track vehicle Sd.Kfz.3b Maultier fitted with the 2 cm Flak 38 anti-aircraft gun in 1:35 scale from ICM. The box holds plastic parts for the vehicle, the gun and the cargo bed, and decals. The model makes it possible to build the so-called Truppenluftschutzwagen, that is a vehicle for the air defense of troops.
The Sd.Kfz.3 Maultier (mule) was created by converting an ordinary truck, whose rear axle was replaced by tracked running gear for better going in the terrain and mud of the Eastern Front. The 2 cm Flak 38 gun, introduced from 1940, had a high rate of fire of up to around 480 rounds per minute and was an effective weapon of close-in air defense. The combination served as a mobile anti-aircraft platform.
First assemble and test the tracked chassis and the running gear, and then the cargo bed and the gun. Glue the plastic with thin liquid cement. For a faithful patina, washes into the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the tracks and the chassis work well. The gun can be nicely brought to life with chipped paint and fine accentuation of the mechanisms.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
