Injection-molded kit of the most widely used Soviet heavy armored car of the prewar years. The tooling captures the characteristic long hull on a truck chassis with two rear axles, the rotating turret with its gun and the shaped fenders with spare wheels at the sides. The model has fine surface texture, a hull and turret molded in several parts and makes a rewarding subject for a diorama from the first months of the Great Patriotic War.
The BA-10 appeared in 1938 on the strengthened chassis of the GAZ-AAA truck with 6x4 drive and was built until 1941. In the turret it carried a 45 mm gun together with a 7.62 mm DT machine gun, and a further machine gun fired from the hull. Its frontal armor and turret reached respectable figures for an armored car of the time. More than three thousand were built in three main forms: the basic BA-10, the improved BA-10M and the BA-10ZhD adapted to run on rails. The car served from the fighting at Khalkhin Gol through the Winter War to the first year of the fighting against Germany, and captured examples were then used by the Finns and the Germans.
Finish and paint the chassis and the axles before you fit the hull, and put the tires on only after spraying. The 4BO green looks more three-dimensional if you lighten it on the roof and the upper surfaces. Armored cars got dirty differently from tracked vehicles: the fenders, the steps and the lower edge of the hull suffered most. Apply the dust with pigments from below and leave the turret fairly clean.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
