An injection molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the maker Hobby Boss. The MBV-2 was a Soviet motorized armored car - that is, a self-propelled armored vehicle running on rails, which needed no locomotive and formed a fighting unit of its own. Thanks to its subject the model is exceptionally long; the finished piece measures roughly 570 mm. The package holds over 430 parts and also five sections of railway track, so you can set the model straight onto the line and do not have to look for one separately.
The MBV-2 came about in the Soviet Union in the second half of the 1930s as the heavy variant of the motorized armored car. It carried three rotating turrets with guns of 76.2 mm caliber and a numerous machine gun armament, and was manned by a crew of roughly fifteen. Only two were built and both saw combat in the Second World War. The designation late with KT-28 guns refers to a particular state of the armament and the equipment of the car, as the machines went through modifications during their service.
Given the length of the model, think out in advance where you are going to build, dry and display it - and get a base long enough. Deal with the running gear and the interior before you close the hull, because later you will not get at them. Do not glue the turrets down firmly until you have finished painting. The railway track is a rewarding part of the build: the ties deserve a wood grain, the sides of the rails a shade of rusty steel and the railheads a polish to a metallic sheen. For the car itself a base coat of green suits, with a dark wash into the riveted seams and pigments on the underside to suggest dust and grease from the line. Given the size of the model it pays to paint it in subassemblies.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
