Sturmtiger 1:35 – a Royal Model add-on set for building the German heavy vehicle with a 380 mm rocket launcher. Target kit: Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sturmtiger was among the most bizarre fighting vehicles of the Second World War, and building it cannot be done without a well-worked superstructure. The Italian brand Royal Model has prepared an extensive set for it that concentrates on the most demanding areas of this machine. The set is intended for the Tamiya kit.
Officially it was the Sturmmörser Tiger with a 380 mm rocket launcher. A boxy armored casemate superstructure was set on the chassis of the Tiger I, and into it went a weapon originally developed for the navy as a depth-charge launcher. The projectile weighed around two tons and a single hit could bring down a whole apartment building; that was precisely the purpose, namely destroying fortified buildings in urban fighting. Only around eighteen were built, by conversion from damaged hulls, and they went into action in the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising and in the final fighting in the west.
Offer the superstructure up dry and fix it only after checking the right angles; sloping walls highlight every inaccuracy without mercy. Leave the surface rougher, as period machines carried an applied anti-magnetic paste with a pronounced texture on their sides. The painting will take a strong transition from a dusty lower area to cleaner upper surfaces, and dark sooting suits the area around the muzzle.
The kit of the vehicle itself has to be obtained separately.
