An accessory set of stowage in 1:35 scale for models of military vehicles and for dioramas. A load on a vehicle is the simplest way to take the machine-like austerity out of a model. It breaks up large flat areas, hints that somebody uses the machine every day and gives a scene scale. Cut the excess material and manufacturing marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest gently. Wash and degrease the parts before painting; a primer will not hold on a greasy surface. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: modeling cement is enough for polystyrene kit parts, while for other materials reach for super glue. Muted shades suit canvas, a dry brush picks out the edges of the folds and a dark glaze deepens them instead. Paint the straps and buckles separately so that the rolled canvas separates optically from the lashing.
It suits builders finishing a model of a tank, an armored personnel carrier or a truck in 1:35 scale who want to make it look lived in, and those building a diorama who need small items for a camp. Check the placement of the parts on a particular machine against period photographs, because the way things were lashed differed from machine to machine.
