1:35 Unterofrizier Gebirgstruppe - WWII

The real subject

The mountain units of the German armed forces were trained for fighting in terrain where ordinary infantry ran up against the limits of its abilities: at high altitudes, in snow and on slopes that vehicles could not reach. The equipment and the training matched that. The mark of these units was the edelweiss, which their members wore on their headgear and on the sleeve. A non-commissioned officer was the link between the commander and the men in such a unit, so in a diorama he naturally suggests himself for the role of the one who is pointing something out or directing.

What the figure offers

1:35 scale is the most widespread in building military vehicles, so the figure fits most models of vehicles as well as a scene on its own. A figure gives a model scale: only beside a person can you tell how big the machine really was. How many parts the figure is made up of and what accessories it has are given by the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

Cut away surplus material with a sharp blade a short distance from the figure and sand the remainder, so as not to wipe away the fine edges of the equipment. Before painting, wash the figure and degrease it and start with a base coat; on a smooth surface the paint will not hold otherwise. Build both the uniform and the skin up in thin layers and bring the shadows out with a dark wash; with a figure it is the expression of the face that takes the most work. Cyanoacrylate glue suits the gluing.

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and models of military vehicles looking for a figure with a clear assignment. The figure is the subject of the delivery. Paints, glue and a model of a vehicle are not included, unless stated otherwise.
