A plastic kit of the ambulance version of the German Sd.Kfz.251 medium half-track in the early Ausf. A form. The German designation Krankenpanzerwagen means literally armored ambulance. ICM is a Ukrainian manufacturer known for carefully made molds and for rich families of variants on a single chassis, and this model fits into one of them.
The Sd.Kfz.251, officially the mittlerer Schützenpanzerwagen, was the most widespread German half-track of the Second World War and appeared in dozens of specialized versions. Version number 8 served as an armored ambulance: it carried wounded away from places an unarmored vehicle could not reach, and its hull interior was adapted for that. You can recognize the early Ausf. A form by the side vision ports in the front part of the hull, which later batches no longer had; this detail is the most conspicuous difference between the early vehicles and the more commonly built late versions.
The hull is open at the top, so the interior stays visible - finish and paint it before you lose access to it. It is practical to work on the tracks and the running gear separately and to fit them only after the main spraying. Early vehicles wore dark gray camouflage, later ones a dark yellow base; whichever you choose, a dark wash in the recesses, a light edge highlight and fine dust on the lower hull and on the tracks will help.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
