This sizeable injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter represents the EA-3B version of the carrier-borne Douglas Skywarrior for electronic reconnaissance. The box holds gray plastic with engraved panel lines, clear parts for the cockpit and a decal sheet. The model is intended to be assembled and painted.
The A-3 Skywarrior was a large twin-engine carrier aircraft of the US Navy, one of the biggest machines ever operated from aircraft carriers. The EA-3B version was used for electronic reconnaissance and signals interception; it carried operator stations and specialized equipment in the fuselage. The type was in service throughout long decades of the Cold War.
Given the size of the model, take care to bond the fuselage halves and the flying surfaces firmly and accurately with liquid cement. We recommend a primer and an airbrush; you can bring the naval schemes out with a wash in the panel lines and a final matte coat.
