The item is a set of landing gear wheels for a model of the F-86A Sabre in 1:48 scale, not a kit of the aircraft. The manufacturer offers two different versions of the wheels for this type and this is the first of them. The choice between them follows from the particular machine you are building, because the hubs differed between individual production series and over the course of service.
On a model the wheels rank among the parts closest to the eye of the observer. Injection-molded plastic moreover carries a parting line across the whole circumference of the tire on them, and the fine pattern of the hub tends to be simplified. A replacement casting removes this problem and at the same time makes it possible to separate the tire from the rim readably, which adds a great deal on a model on a stand.
Wash the parts, cut off the casting remnant and level the seating surface on abrasive paper. The tire will take fine flattening, while the rim is usually painted separately and masked with a circular template or with a careful stroke of a brush. A deposit of dust down by the ground is rewarding, but do not overdo it, otherwise the model looks neglected rather than used.
It is sold separately without the base model, the paints and the glue, which need to be obtained separately.
