This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss represents the early version of the Vought F4U-1 Corsair carrier fighter. The package contains gray plastic, clear parts for the cockpit and a decal sheet. The model is meant to be assembled and painted.
The F4U Corsair was an American carrier fighter with a characteristic inverted gull wing and a powerful radial engine. The early F4U-1 version had a flat canopy with a dense grid of frames, which is why that look is called the birdcage. Only the later versions received the bulged canopy with a better view. The machine excelled as a fighter and as a fighter-bomber in the Pacific.
Glue the multi-part canopy with cement for clear plastics and mask it carefully. A primer and an airbrush are recommended; American naval schemes come out well with a fine wash into the panel lines and graded matting. The engine cowling offers room for fine-tuning the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
