This is not a model of an aircraft, but a detailed resin set of replacement exhausts for building the Polikarpov I-16 type 5 in 1:48 scale. The set faithfully casts the shape of the exhaust pipes and their openings, which tend to be simplified in injection-molded plastic.
The resin exhausts replace the plastic parts from the base kit and give the engine section a more realistic look with open openings and a fine surface texture. The parts are shaped for the matching I-16 type 5 kit in this scale.
First wash the parts to remove any mold release residue, carefully cut off the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting; you will bring out the exhaust openings with a dark wash and burnt metal shades. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
The model of the aircraft itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
