An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik in the two-seat mod. 1943 version in 1:48 scale from Zvezda. The box contains parts in gray and clear plastic and decals for several historical machines; the level of detail is one of Zvezda's strengths.
The Il-2 was a single-engine ground-attack aircraft with an armored bathtub protecting the pilot, the engine and the tanks. The two-seat version of 1943 added a rear gunner to defend the tail. It was one of the most produced combat aircraft in history and was used for attacks on ground targets.
Finish the cockpit and the gunner's station before you close up the fuselage, and mask the glazing. An airbrush suits Soviet schemes; the typical wear and chipped paint on the leading edges can be created with the chipping technique. Add the external stores (bombs, rockets) according to the scheme you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
