Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien fighter, known to the Allies under the nickname Tony, in 1:48 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model precisely captures the elongated nose and the slender fuselage of the Id version and offers a canopy that can be built open or closed as well as drop tanks. Check the exact contents of the package against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Ki-61 Hien was exceptional in that it was the only Japanese fighter in the Pacific war to use a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Ha-40 engine, a licensed derivative of the German Daimler-Benz. Because of that it was at first mistaken for a German and then for an Italian machine, which earned it the Allied code name Tony. The Ki-61-Id version carried two 20 mm cannons and belonged to the late production batches of the type.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic; paint the cockpit with its ammunition boxes and oil tank before closing the fuselage. The glazing can be assembled open or closed — glue it with canopy cement. Japanese fighters carried various schemes from bare metal to green camouflage; after gloss varnish and decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add fine wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
