An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous jet trainer L-39C Albatros in 1:48 scale from Trumpeter. It is a modern injection mold with a finely engraved surface; besides the plastic sprues the package contains photo-etched parts and decal sheets. The model is built from individual parts and is intended to be glued and painted.
The L-39 Albatros is a jet trainer developed and built by the Czechoslovak company Aero Vodochody - one of the most successful Czech aviation products ever. It first flew at the end of the 1960s and in the C version it served as a basic and advanced trainer alike. Thanks to its reliability, easy maintenance and low operating costs it spread to more than thirty countries all over the world, and in a number of them it still flies today; aerobatic teams took to it as well. The L-39C is the classic training rendering with a two-seat tandem cockpit and a jet engine.
On the plastic parts use a thin modeling cement for plastic, which is drawn into the joints and does not clog the surface. Finish and paint the cockpit and the instrument panel before the fuselage is closed. Bond the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a filler primer before spraying and lay the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats; a gloss varnish helps under the decals, and a matte varnish evens out the final surface. It is worth sanding and filling the transitions of the fuselage and the leading edges of the wings.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
