The plastic kit of the LCM-3 USN Vehicle Landing Craft in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. An American landing craft of the Second World War period for equipment and vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American LCM-3 (Landing Craft, Mechanized) of the Second World War period. The model captures the characteristic open cargo well with its hinged bow ramp and the superstructure with the wheelhouse. The package contains decals and illustrated building instructions.
The LCM-3 was a mechanized landing craft able to put heavier loads ashore, for example a medium tank weighing around 30 tons. It had a small crew and light defensive armament in the form of 12.7 mm machine guns. Craft of this type were used at the Normandy landings, in the Pacific landings and in river crossings at the close of the war in Europe.
The hull can be built as a whole on a stand, or set into a water surface in a diorama. Paint the inner cargo well and the ramp before closing it up. Use an airbrush for the naval gray, pick out the welds and rivets with a wash and add traces of wear and rust where the deck and the ramp get scuffed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
