The landing gear of a helicopter is always in view, because the machine stands on the ground for most of the time a viewer is looking at it. The Lynx came out of British development at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s and became a universal machine for both land and naval use. It excelled in agility and speed and was among the highest-performing helicopters of its day. The versions for shipboard service stood on wheels, whereas the machines of ground units were built on skids. The wheels therefore belong to the part of the family that operated over the sea.
Leave the fitting until the end of the build, after the landing gear legs are painted and dry. The tire will stand a fine cast of dust in its lower part, while the rim looks better clean and with a crisp transition. If you sand the wheels for a loaded look, take the material off a little at a time and keep standing the model up, otherwise an uneven stance easily arises. Degrease the parts before painting.
