An injection-molded plastic kit of the jet fighter MiG-17 in 1:48 scale from Czech manufacturer Smer. The package lets you build the radar-equipped interceptor version MiG-17PF, the PFU variant, or the Polish licensed-production Lim-6M. The model is based on an older, simpler tooling; the kit consists of plastic parts, decals, and instructions. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package.
The MiG-17 was a Soviet single-seat subsonic jet fighter that followed on from the MiG-15, bringing chiefly a reworked wing and better flight characteristics. The PF version was an interceptor for combat in reduced visibility, fitted with onboard radar in a characteristically modified nose. The type was widely used in the air forces of Warsaw Pact countries and other states; related licensed variants in the Lim series were built in Poland.
First dry-fit the parts and clean up the seam lines and mold marks. Glue with thin plastic cement, fill and sand the fuselage joints as needed. Apply a primer before painting; the MiG's metal surfaces look great with an airbrush and light panel shading. Paint the cockpit and landing-gear wells before closing the fuselage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
