Injection-molded plastic kit of the American North American P-51C Mustang fighter in 1:48 scale from ICM. This is the version with the so-called razorback fuselage spine, powered by the license-built Merlin engine. The kit offers finely engraved surface detail, a well worked-out cockpit, a choice of the standard canopy or the bulged Malcolm hood, and underwing stores in the form of drop tanks and bombs.
The P-51C was the version of the Mustang built at the Dallas plant, powered by a license-built variant of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. It was the switch to the Merlin that turned the Mustang into a first-rate long-range escort fighter able to protect bombers deep over Europe. The C version still has the so-called razorback, that is the raised spine behind the cockpit. Many pilots had the bulged Malcolm hood fitted to these machines for a better view.
Use liquid cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. For natural metal schemes, metallic paints applied over a smooth, polished base work well. Lay down a primer and apply the paints with an airbrush, and treat the glazing with masks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
