The model is divided across conventional plastic sprues, holds a clear part for the canopy glazing and waterslide decals. Both the span and the length match a sturdy twin-engined machine, so the finished model looks substantial on a shelf.
The Grumman S-2 Tracker was one of the first aircraft designed to combine the search and the attack role against submarines in a single airframe. The S-2A version (originally the S2F-1) was the first production variant, operated from the decks of aircraft carriers by the US Navy from the mid-1950s. A pair of piston radial engines, a roomy fuselage for the crew and the equipment and the ability to carry both search and weapons fit made it a proven and long-serving type, which a number of other countries took over as well.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a cutter or a sharp knife and clean up the mating surfaces. Glue with thin cement for plastic, which wicks into the seam. Before painting it is worth spraying the surface with a primer, which evens out the shade of the plastic and shows up small flaws. The painting itself is handled best by an airbrush, and the varied surface can then be picked out with a fine wash into the engraved lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
