The kit captures the armed Bayraktar TB.2 unmanned aerial vehicle in the version operated by the Polish armed forces. The model in 1:48 scale keeps the characteristic slender proportions of the machine with a pair of tail booms and is an interesting addition to a collection of contemporary equipment.
The TB.2 is a Turkish medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle from the production of the Baykar company. The structure is built on a thin wing of large span, a pair of tail booms with an inverted arrangement of the tail surfaces and a pusher propeller driven by a piston engine, which gives the machines a long time aloft at low consumption. Under the wing it carries light precision munitions, and in the forward part of the fuselage it has a stabilized electro-optical turret for reconnaissance and guidance. Poland became the first member state of the North Atlantic Alliance outside Turkey to order the TB.2; it signed the contract in 2021 and took the machines over in the following years.
The most sensitive part of the build is seating both tail booms coaxially and gluing the tail surfaces on straight, so line the whole thing up dry and glue it on a flat surface. The thin wing of large span deserves reinforced joints and careful sanding. Suit your choice of glue to the material of the parts. The light single-color scheme of unmanned aerial vehicles reveals every unevenness, so a primer coat and gradual layering of the shade pay off; keep weathering very restrained, as these machines tend to be clean in service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
