An injection-molded plastic kit of the American North American F-86F-30 Sabre jet fighter in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. This model from the easy-build range uses large molded sections of fuselage and wing, a simple cockpit, a clear one-piece canopy and air brakes that can be built open or closed. The F-30 version is distinguished by the fixed 6-3 leading edge without slats, which sets it apart from the later export F-40 version.
The F-86 Sabre was the first swept-wing jet fighter of the US Air Force and made its first flight in 1947. The F-30 version received the modified 6-3 leading edge, which improved agility at high speeds. The Sabre became famous in the Korean War, where it clashed with Soviet MiG-15s in what was called MiG Alley. It was armed with heavy machine guns and became a symbol of the first generation of jet fighters.
Secure the joints with thin cement for plastic. The natural metal finish is typical of the Sabre: it looks best on a smoothly sanded and polished base applied with an airbrush, and the metallic paint should be stirred thoroughly before spraying. The air brakes can be fixed open for a more striking look. Mask the clear canopy before painting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
