An injection-molded plastic kit of the Australian fighter CAC Boomerang in 1:72 scale from Special Hobby. The model consists of a sprue of injection-molded plastic parts and a sprue of clear parts, and a set of 3D-printed details for the interior as well as the exterior is enclosed. The 3D-printed parts include a seat with molded belts, the control column, a compass, the pilot's armored headrest and optional exhausts and gun barrel covers. The surface carries finely engraved panel and rivet detail.
The CAC Boomerang was the only Australian fighter of indigenous design to see combat in the Second World War. It arose as a rapid emergency answer to the threat to Australia in the Pacific and was built in several production versions, among them the CA-12 (Mk.I) and CA-13 (Mk.II) fighters. The machines of the Royal Australian Air Force proved themselves above all in the support of ground units and in reconnaissance over the jungle.
This is a kit with roots in short-run technology, so count on careful cleaning up of the parts and dry fits before gluing. Special Hobby has added locating pins on the wings and fuselage, which make the build easier. Separate the 3D-printed parts from the supports carefully and bond them with super glue. The decals offer several interesting schemes of Australian machines from various squadrons and periods.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
