The C-295 is a twin-engined turboprop transport that came about by lengthening the earlier CN-235 design of Spanish manufacture. It has a high wing, a rear cargo ramp and landing gear sized for unpaved surfaces, so it will deliver cargo or troops even onto an improvised strip. The Polish Air Force took these machines on in the first decade of this century and uses them to carry cargo as well as people; today they are among the most frequently seen machines of the Polish transport service.
