This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Italeri captures the American light supersonic fighter Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter. Thanks to the smaller scale the model is quick to build and does not take up much room in a display case. The exact numbers of parts and decal schemes are stated on the manufacturer's package.
The Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter was a light and affordable supersonic fighter developed at the end of the 1950s and during the 1960s. It was powered by a pair of General Electric J85 jet engines, and thanks to simple maintenance and a low price it became an export hit, serving with dozens of air forces of allied countries all over the world. It excelled in handling and became the basis for the later successful F-5E/F Tiger II line.
Separate the parts with a cutter and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Use a primer before varnishing. The model suits practicing camouflage schemes with an airbrush, so apply the paint in thin layers. The slim fuselage and the pointed wingtips call for careful cleaning up of the parting joints, so that the elegant line of the aircraft is preserved.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
