This is a resin detail accessory, not a kit. The set contains replacement type 1 wheels for the F-86A Sabre jet fighter. The parts faithfully capture the tire tread pattern and the detail of the hubs and replace the softer plastic wheels from the mold. Wheels of this type are usually rendered with a hint of load, which gives a model on the ground a realistic contact patch.

The real subject

The F-86A was the first production version of the American swept-wing Sabre jet fighter, deployed in the fighting over Korea. On a finished model the landing gear and wheels are among the conspicuous details.

Use and tips

• Separate the wheels from the print supports with a sharp knife; they are small parts.
• Wash and degrease them before gluing.
• Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
• The transition between tire and hub is best brought out with masking and an airbrush.
