First to Fight 1:72 Renault R40 with the SA38 gun is an injection-molded plastic kit of the French light tank of the early part of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale represents the French Renault R40 light infantry tank in the variant with the more powerful 37 mm SA38 gun. The set belongs to a range of easily assembled models of equipment of the 1939 period and suits collectors who are building larger collections as well.
The Renault R40 was an improved version of the well-known R35 light tank. It received new, better running gear with improved suspension and, in the later machines, the longer 37 mm SA38 gun, which had better penetration than the older SA18. The tanks served the French army in the fighting of 1940 and part of the captured equipment was later used by other armies too.
Assembling the running gear carefully before closing the hull is advisable. The model comes into its own after a coat of primer and an airbrushed top shade; the typical French camouflage with its patches is best done with masks or a brush. The patina is fine-tuned with washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
