About product

Renault YS command tank 1:72 (First to Fight)

This plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer First to Fight captures the rare French Renault YS command and signals tracked vehicle. The model is meant to be assembled and painted by the builder. The kit usually comes with a historical booklet with information about the real vehicle.

The real subject

The Renault YS was a French command and radio-communications tracked vehicle whose development grew out of the light AMR35. In place of a rotating turret with a weapon it received a distinctive square superstructure housing short- and medium-range signals equipment. The vehicle was compact, with armor not exceeding roughly 13 mm, and it ranks among the less known but historically interesting prewar French designs.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and check the fit dry. Use thin modeling cement for the plastic, prime the model before painting and apply thin coats of paint, ideally with an airbrush. The engraved lines benefit from being gently brought out with a wash.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of prewar French equipment in 1:72 scale
  • Modelers interested in rare command and signals vehicles
  • Builders of small dioramas from the start of the Second World War

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
