Clear Prop Models 1:72 I-16 type 5 in Finnish service is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter in Finnish Air Force markings.

This injection-molded plastic kit captures the early type 5 version of the legendary Soviet I-16 fighter in the colors and markings of the Finnish Air Force. The set holds several sprues including a clear part for the glazing, decals and clear, color instructions that make the build considerably easier. It is a simplified form from the Clear Prop range, suitable for less experienced builders as well.
The Polikarpov I-16 was one of the first monoplane fighters with retractable landing gear. The type 5 version belongs to the early production machines with a short, stubby fuselage and excellent agility. Several captured I-16s were also operated by the Finnish Air Force during the Second World War, which gives the model an unusual and attractive camouflage.
First clean the flash off the small parts and dry-fit the fuselage halves to check that they seat. Finish the cockpit and the clear part before closing the fuselage. Use liquid cement for plastic, bring out the metal areas with aluminum shades and complete the surface with light wear and with the panel lines picked out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
