A plastic kit of the American M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
Development of the vehicle dragged on for almost two decades, and the result was a machine meant to carry an infantry squad while being able to fight on its own account. It entered service at the start of the 1980s. The hull is welded from aluminum alloy and backed up with add-on armor plates, so that at a relatively low weight it stands up to fragments and to small-caliber fire.
The two-man turret carries a chain-driven 25 mm automatic cannon, a coaxial machine gun and, on the left side, a twin launcher for anti-tank guided missiles. It was exactly that combination that made the Bradleys surprisingly effective tank hunters during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The vehicle still serves today in many upgraded forms and has become a regular part of displays of modern ground equipment.
In this scale the length of the hull works out at roughly nine centimeters. The small format puts the emphasis on clean joints, because a filled gap shows more on a short hull than on a large model. It pays to paint the tracks separately first and fit them only once the running gear is finished. Small parts such as antennas and mirrors are best added right at the end.
A single-color finish on the vehicle only comes to life through graduation: a lighter coat on the horizontal surfaces, a darker glaze into the corners and a dry brush on the edges of the armor. Dust settled from the tracks upwards gives the model a sense of scale better than any strong shade.
