A set of painting masks for a model of the Nanchang Q-5 aircraft in 1:72 scale, listed for Trumpeter kits in all versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nanchang Q-5 is a Chinese attack aircraft, which is based on the design of the MiG-19 fighter and differs from it above all in a reworked forward fuselage with side air intakes. It is a machine with a long service and a number of versions, which is reflected in the fact that this set of masks is listed for Trumpeter kits of all versions.
Masks cover the areas that are to stay unsprayed. They save the most work on glazing, where the canopy frames would otherwise have to be drawn around by hand or built up from strips of tape. The result is sharp frames of even width all the way around, which shows more on a small model in 1:72 scale than on a large one. Which parts the set covers and how the individual masks are numbered you will find in the manufacturer's instructions.
Clean and degrease the area before applying the masks; on a greasy surface a mask does not hold and the paint runs under it. Seat the mask exactly in place and press the edges down carefully, above all in the corners. Then apply the paint in several light coats; a thick coat leaves a ridge at the edge of the mask. Take the masks off as soon as the paint has set and before it cures completely; later there is a risk that the edge of the sprayed coat will peel away with the mask.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
