An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Lockheed P-38L Lightning fighter (the P-38L-5-LO subversion) in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model belongs to a range of simpler kits with an easy build, so the iconic twin-boom fighter will join your display case quickly. The characteristic twin-boom layout with a central nacelle for the pilot makes it one of the most striking aircraft of the Second World War.
The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with an unconventional twin-boom layout and a central nacelle holding the pilot's cockpit. It was among the fastest piston fighters of its day and was deployed in the fighter, reconnaissance and attack roles, especially in the Pacific. The P-38L version was the most numerous and best performing production variant with refined engines and a wide range of underwing stores. The designation P-38L-5-LO specifies the particular production block from Lockheed at the end of the war.
It is an injection-molded plastic model; glue the parts with a modeling cement for plastic and the small and clear parts with cyanoacrylate. Lay down a base coat (primer) before painting. Create the metal look of bare duralumin with metallic paints and an airbrush, and the olive green machines with flat shades. The transitions of the panels and the emphasis on the rivets come to life with a wash and a light lightening of the surfaces. Pay attention to seating both booms exactly and to the correct sense of rotation of the propellers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
