An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous American Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the early variant with the high fuselage spine, which was nicknamed the Razorback (unlike the later machines with a teardrop canopy). The kit comes from a range with a simpler, faster build, so it is well within reach of less experienced modelers while still offering engraved surface structure and decent detail. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and a decal sheet for a period finish is included.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was among the most rugged fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a powerful radial engine with a turbocharger and the machine stood out for its strong structure, its heavy firepower and its good results as a fighter-bomber as well as an escort fighter. The early Razorback versions flew above all over Europe and the Pacific, where they also proved themselves attacking ground targets.
The parts are glued with liquid model cement for plastic. Before painting we recommend treating the surface with a primer and painting ideally with an airbrush. A gloss coat helps under the decals and a later flat layer will unify the resulting look. The panel lines are accented with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
