An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet IS-7 heavy tank, transliterated JS-7, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model brings closer one of the heaviest and most massive Soviet tanks of post-war development. The set contains waterslide decals; the exact number of parts and the particular markings are given in the instructions enclosed in the package.
The IS-7 (JS-7) was a Soviet experimental heavy tank developed shortly after the Second World War. It was distinguished by a massive cast turret with armor that withstood both infantry and anti-tank weapons, by a powerful 130 mm gun derived from a naval weapon and by a weight exceeding sixty tons, and yet thanks to a powerful engine it could reach a speed that was high for its category. In the end it did not enter series production, as the Soviet army turned to lighter heavy tanks, but it remains the peak of the classic heavy tank concept. The surviving examples are museum pieces today.
Finish and paint the running gear and the road wheels before closing the hull. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement and clean up the small parts carefully. The base is Soviet protective green; bring out the edges with dry brushing, a dark wash will accent the panel lines and the details, and apply dust and mud pigments to the running gear for faithful weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
