Model Set is a complete starter set with an injection-molded plastic kit of the British fighter Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IIa in 1:72 scale from Revell. The great advantage is that besides the model the package also contains a basic set of paints, a brush and glue — an ideal gift and an entry into modeling with nothing left to buy. The model is built by the classic glued technique; the decals make it possible to build the aircraft in the colors of the Royal Air Force.
The Spitfire Mk.II was an improved version of the first Spitfires of the beginning of the Second World War, powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The Mk.IIa variant was armed with eight machine guns of .303 caliber and served with RAF squadrons in the period after the Battle of Britain. The elegant elliptical wing makes it one of the best-known fighters in history.
Glue the parts with the enclosed cement for plastic and sand the seams down. Finish the cockpit first, then close the fuselage up. Apply the enclosed paints with the brush in thin coats; they can also be sprayed for a smoother surface. Before the decals we recommend coating the surface with gloss varnish.
