An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet multipurpose biplane U-2/Po-2 in the VS version (Voyskovaya Seriya, meaning the military series) in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker ICM. The small scale and the simple structure make it a pleasant model for a collection of Soviet aircraft.
The Polikarpov Po-2 (originally the U-2) was one of the most widespread aircraft in history. It was created at the end of the 1920s as a trainer, but during the Second World War it also served as a night light bomber, a liaison and an ambulance aircraft. It became famous above all with the night bomber regiments, where the quiet approach of the biplane made both sleep and defense unpleasant for the enemy.
A biplane calls for careful setting of the upper wing and the struts; dry assembly and patient gluing prove their worth. Use liquid cement for plastic, and super glue on the small parts. Apply a base coat before painting. You can support the fabric covering of the fuselage with a light accent on the ribs and a discreet wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
