1:78 Poe's X-Wing Fighter with Sound (Build & Play)

The X-wing fighter with a sound module

The X-wing machine is one of the best-known silhouettes of film science fiction. Its four lifting surfaces open out into the shape of the letter X before combat, so that the weapons at their tips get a wider field of fire and the cooling of the drive a freer passage. The newer form, which the resistance pilot Poe Dameron flies in the films of the latest trilogy, received a different division of the fuselage and a new color finish.

Assembly calls for no glue. The parts snap into each other and the moldings are already pre-colored, so a finished piece can stand on a shelf within a single afternoon and painting stays only a voluntary extra for those who want to add shading and wear.

A sound module is built into the fuselage. The drive running up and the fire of the onboard weapons can be heard from it, which makes the model more of an object to hold than an untouchable display-case exhibit. It will be appreciated above all by younger builders who want to play with a finished thing.

According to the figure in the name this is 1:78 scale. The model thus comes out at a size a child's hand holds comfortably and which at the same time lets the division of the surface panels and the shape of the cockpit be made out.

The set is suitable as a first encounter with plastic modeling. It calls for no tools and no thinners, and yet it leads to a result that stands up next to classically built pieces.

The box belongs to a range aimed at quick assembly without chemicals. Further machines from the film saga come out in the same form, so a whole squadron can gradually be gathered on one shelf.
